Your Artsy Palette Cleanser. Issue 3
Art & Culture Finds to make you happy this week of September 3-10, 2025
Well hello! Hows your week going?
Today Im in the middle of something spontaneous; an overnight at a local hotel! I don’t believe Ive ever stayed at one locally before on my own, but its been such a challenging month with unexpected food poisoning :/ and other things , that I really needed a reset. Here I am poolside. I even went in! As the proud owner of a snow-white tan, I can tell you it’s been over 15 years since I’ve been in an outdoor chlorinated pool – any pool actually. But honestly I’m happy to be here chilling out and chatting with you.

What’s up in my art studio?
As you know , I launched my Magical Magnolias Art Prints and Cards last week. I really love this little collection, and these will be available for the next few months.

Also! THIS just happened

I’ve never made a top 100 list before ! Thanks Substack! This is really exciting and thank you to everybody that has subscribed lately. I’m so excited to have you here!!

Colors I’m in Love with this Week
Pansies from my patio balcony are gonna be a theme this week lol these are some of the colours that I really enjoyed from a painting that I did for my subscribers. Whether it’s art or deciding what to wear next, maybe these colours will inspire you this week. Try something different – lavender is often I looked over colour, so pick it up and see what happens.
Artist of the Week: Meg T. Justice.
She’s a painter, illustrator and linocut artist who I’ve been seeing on my wall for a while now. I love her work and this one in particular which really encapsulates the essence of these animals. If you’ve ever seen how still kingfishers are when they’re waiting for their next meal, and how playful otters are as they swim and contort their bodies into crazy shapes, I’m sure you can relate to how great this moment she captured is.
Check out her work below and you can also find her work on ETSY and

And just like that. . . It was spooky season
I love that I currently have red-orange nasturtiums and black petunias on the balcony just screaming at me to get out the Halloween decor. OK I’m not gonna lie. Most of it is permanent fixtures like my crows and the skull in the glass ball. but you should definitely let your surroundings get you excited. Put weird colour combinations together. Make little posies one of my favorite things because I always have tiny flowers as cuttings. I’ve never liked taking off a full branch and not seeing the buds come to life so I always have tons of tiny little flowers and making them is one of my favourite things to do. It’s like you get to be a floral artist in miniature!
Meanwhile, Im still in love with the dahlias and feel incredibly grateful that there is a woman not too far from me who has a garden full of them. She does cuttings every day and sells them for a couple bucks a stem, which means I get to enjoy them all the way through until the frost.
This week seek out some flowers. Buy them or take photos, but let the colours inspire you.
Nature Nuture
oh what fun I had this week! Something you might not know about me as I absolutely love thunderstorms, and lightning! Where I live, we don’t really get that. If I’m lucky, I get to see it once a year and at that we don’t have for lightning and the big show – we have what is called sheet lightning. But for 20 minutes I got to enjoy the sweet petrichor smells, torrential downpour, and a purple light show that I actually caught on camera. Not gonna lie it took about 30 to to get it 🤣 ( click here to see the video post)
So this week – spoiler alert, dad joke incoming –
This week, find something that lights you up!

Floral Inspiration
I mentioned before, these are the pretty black peonies from my balcony garden. I loved the colours and the so much that I just let it take over and create something soft and pretty and bold and edgy with the darker colors. I really love how the phone/laptop wallpapers turned out this month. Don’t forget to subscribe at the bottom of this page and you’ll get a freebie every month too!
Last Words
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. “Ferris Bueller
While you don’t have to be extravagant and take a night at a hotel for yourself – although if you can do it, I highly recommend it. I highly encourage you to find something that celebrates you this week.
To appreciate all the beautiful things that you have around you. Like animal companions, family, Friends, food, art, and the deepest north American luxury – the freedom to make our own choices. But also to really appreciate yourself. And acknowledge the beauty that is you.
I hope you enjoy the next week and I’ll talk to you soon
Cheers!
Tanya
